Worship

"Worship: The Reason We Were Created" by A.W. Tozer Another excellent Tozer book! I love this Tozer series taken from sermons and books. In this edition on worship, Tozer makes the call back to true worship. To be set apart from the idolatrous society that we live in today. Though these essays were written during other times, the message is much more relevant today than they were in Tozer's time. As time has gone by, society becomes more and more idolatrous and farther away from genuine worship.   Tozer echoes something I always say, if we're not worshipping God then we are worshipping someone or something else. We were made for worship, it's undeniable.  This little book is jammed packed with so much soul food it leaves you overwhelmed, in a good way! Tozer's timeless exhortation is much needed today more than ever.  I received a copy of this book from Moody in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

The Voices We Carry

"The Voices We Carry: Finding Your One True Voice in a World of Clamor and Noise" by J.S. Park This book is very helpful. I wasn't expecting much at first because I really dislike this type of book, where the reader is prompted to find a quick "fix" to their problems but I was pleasantly surprised. This book is nothing of what I expected, in a good way.  Blogger and chaplain, J.S. Park has worked with terminally ill patients and has heard about these "voices" we all carry. These are voices that whisper us lies taking advantage of our vulnerabilities. But he doesn't just identify them and describe them but guides you on how to deal with each voice in a Biblical manner.  This is a book that applies to everyone, we all have lies we believe and struggle to silence. Park uses real-life examples which makes it easy to relate to. I highly recommend it! I received a copy of this book from Moody in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed her...

The Conqueror

"The Conqueror" Constantine's Empire Trilogy Book 1 by Bryan Litfin 1.5 stars. Let me say right off the bat, I did not finish this book nor do I care to. The summary sounded very intriguing when I read it and the cover looks stunning. I was more surprised when I discovered that the publisher had sent me a hardback cover when I was expecting a paperback. This is the first fiction book I have ever read by Bryan Litfin, I have read some of his non-fiction works so I already knew that he is an exceptional writer.  From the beginning of the novel, I knew it wasn't for me. I understand that the Romans during this time period were immoral, vulgar, and wanted nothing to do with God but I think we could make do without some very detailed scenes. I also understand that Christianity was neither Protestant nor Catholic but something in the middle however, I didn't care much for the faith of the supposed Christian characters. Their Christian beliefs are questionable and for ...
