Come Back To Me

"Come Back to Me" Waters of Time (Book 1) by Jody Hedlund Wow what a read! This novel has all the elements I love: history, time travel, romance-the whole package. This is a different kind of book I'm used to reading from Jody Hedlund but I knew upon reading the synopsis that it would be good. And it is, for the most part. If you're a fan of Outlander (as I am) you'll most certainly love this one. It's a page-turner for sure; I found myself unable to put it down. I had not been this invested and entertained in a good novel for a while (and that's saying a lot for me). The characters are well-developed, the hero of the story, the handsome, Sir William Durham is everything any lady would dream of in a man. He is strong, he is protective, he is caring, he is a man of character, he is brave, you name it. Marian, the protagonist is an independent young scientist with a broken relationship with her dad and absolutely not interested in men since she is married ...

God of the Impossible

"God of the Impossible: Stories of Hope from the Muslim World" by Rev. Stefano Fehr & Dr. Samuel Naaman This is a powerful testament to the saving grace of God. This short little book contains 10 conversion testimonies of ex-Muslims. Each one is only a couple of pages long and tells the story of an individual; how they got saved and their suffering persecutions from family, friends, neighbors, and others. These are stories from all over the world, even one from the United States which surprised me.  I love reading these stories, especially from people who were saved from other religions. Ex-Muslim testimonies are always so powerful because they are very religious and leaving their religion is very dangerous and painful.  The authors are the president and vice-president of Call of Hope, a ministry that takes the Word of God worldwide. The stories contained in this book are from people who have come through their doors.  I received a copy of this book from Moody ...

Getting Over Yourself

"Getting Over Yourself: Trading Believe-in- Yourself Religion for Christ-Centered Christianity" by Dean Inserra  Dean Inserra has done great work for the Christian community in writing this book. We know that many things are terribly wrong with mainstream Christianity but not many are willing to say anything for fear of offending or going against what is popular. Dean Inserra is neither.  In "Getting Over Yourself" Inserra calls out the nominal Christians; laymen and ministers who live a personal prosperity, "happiness" quest gospel. These are the Christians who do not worship the God of the Bible but a god of their own making. We see them all over social media with their daily motivational captions on their Bible and coffee mug pictures or their Scriptures out of context daily affirmations they repeat like a mantra. Of these "Christians" Inserra addresses this book to.  Dean makes some very good points I have actually written several blog post...
