A Lady Unrivaled

A Lady Unrivaled  By Roseanna M. White This is the first book I have read from Roseanna White and let me start off by saying that I have found my new favorite Christian historical fiction author! I picked this book from my blogger review program thinking that it was a stand alone novel. When I received it, I was a bit disappointed to find out that it is the last installment in a trilogy. I don't like reading books out of order because I feel like a puzzle with missing pieces. However, the author did an amazing job with the plot and piecing the story together that I was able to pick up the story without feeling lost.  The heroine, Lady Ella, is a friendly, down to earth, spunky young woman with an easy smile. She is determined to keep her brother, the Duke of Nottingham and her sister-in-law away from the danger the fire eyes diamonds carry with them and bring upon whoever possess them. James Azerley, the Earl of Cayton, has already broken the hear...

The King's Portion

The serpent king's table is a cheap copy, therefore... I refuse to let the lies of the past take root in my heart again For in search of much, I received nothing The evil of this world has a way of requiring much and give pain as the prize In my attempt to be a Daniel, I became a David I knew to refuse the king's portion But like David, curiosity ruled my heart Oh YAHWEH! That I would undo the consequences of my sin! It's no longer there, it's a fight, it's a broken a sin I no longer belong where I once congregated I never belonged at the foot of the serpent king's table Bathing in delicacies I will instead taste the sweets from the Rightful King's portion And in His presence, I shall abide forever!

20 Things We'd Tell Our Twentysomething Selves

20 Things We'd Tell Our Twentysomething Selves  By Kelli & Peter Worrall  I had been looking for a book like this for quite a while, so when I saw this one available from Moody, I didn't hesitate to request it. Couple, Kelli and Petter Worrall team up and offer deep and honest godly advice for twentysomethings. Drawing up from their own personal experiences; their ups and downs, joyful and sorrowful moments, makes this book easy to relate to on many levels. This book is for every twentysomething, as they write, " whether you may have landed an entry position at your dream job or are making lattes at a trendy espresso bar...or whether you're married or single," it appeals to everyone no matter what stage you are in life. As a twentysomething myself, I was able to relate to every chapter in some way or another. This is the kind of book that makes you reflect on your relationship with God and how this stage of your life can be used to the fulles...

Searching the Scriptures

Searching the Scriptures By Charles R. Swindoll  I grew up listening to Pastor Swindoll’s sermons over the radio but had never read any of his books until now but I’m glad I did. I had been on the hunt for a book like this; on how to study the Scriptures so, it caught my attention when I saw it. Let me start by saying that in all my life, I had never truly STUDIED the Bible. I would only read book after book just like I read chapter after chapter of any romance novel. But I had never learned an effective way to study the Bible, so naturally, the Word had never truly been alive in my Christian walk. Only recently have I developed a deep passion for understanding, memorizing, and teaching the Bible.   The Biblical wisdom and scripture maturity of Pastor Swindoll is etched on each page. Each chapter is filled with step by step processes on how to effectively study the scriptures with examples and hands-on exercises at the end of each chapter. I thoroughly en...
