Sex and the Single Girl

"Sex and the Single Girl" by Dr. Juli Slattery With Abby Ludvigson & Chelsey Nugteren  I'm so glad I chose this workbook for review! This a 6-week study on a topic Christians tend to shy away from but is in dire need of being addressed. This book was exclusively written for the single girl. Dr. Slattery touches on very important topics about sex that many young girls struggle with: premarital sex, masturbation, pornography, sexual fantasies among others. With much love and patience, Dr. Slattery gently guides the student through misconceptions many girls have about sex.  Each week consists of 5 days of material. Every week is based on a topic and every day has a short reading portion with some real short stories from other young women, and then some questions for self -reflection and meditation. The topics covered are: Why Sexuality Matters, Embracing a Grand Design, Sexuality and Your Character, Sexual Boundaries, Battling Temptation, Restoring I...

Enjoying God

"Enjoying God:  Finding Hope in the Attributes of God" By R.C. Sproul R.C. Sproul invites the reader to dig deeper into Scripture and draw closer to God for revelation. Getting to know the God of the Bible, is what helped him let go of pain and anger from his personal life, R.C. recounts. In this candid and well-written account, Dr. Sproul hopes to get into the heart of the believer and learn for himself of the power, love, sovereignty, and patience of the God we call Abba.  Dr. Sproul takes you through the attributes of God one by one using personal stories and scholarly anecdotes to tell of his own encounters with God. He invites you to draw closer to God and discover for yourself who God is. In whatever stage you are in life or whatever you may be traversing, this book will convict you to seek God and dispel painful misconceptions you may have. The book itself is easy to read, the words and paragraphs are easy to follow. The stories make it an enjoya...

An Inconvenient Beauty

"An Inconvenient Beauty" By Kristi Ann Hunter The last installment in the Hawthorne House series does not disappoint. This is the only book in the series that I read but I did not feel left behind. Some characters are tied to characters in the previous books but can still be a story of its own, it could even be a stand-alone novel, so those who did not pick up the other books in the series, don't feel like you're late to the party. The plot is well constructed, the characters are well developed, you can easily relate to them and feel what they feel. The pace of the story is good, no parts seem rushed or slow.  The novel centers around  3 main characters with reappearing minor characters. Not much action, suspense or thrilling moments. The novel is based on Regency-era London among the social classes. The plot of the story is not unique: high-class debutantes, dances, match-making, a Bachelor Duke in search of a wife, and a poor beautiful single w...
