"An Inconvenient Beauty"
By Kristi Ann Hunter
The last installment in the Hawthorne House series does not disappoint. This is the only book in the series that I read but I did not feel left behind. Some characters are tied to characters in the previous books but can still be a story of its own, it could even be a stand-alone novel, so those who did not pick up the other books in the series, don't feel like you're late to the party.
The plot is well constructed, the characters are well developed, you can easily relate to them and feel what they feel. The pace of the story is good, no parts seem rushed or slow.
The novel centers around 3 main characters with reappearing minor characters. Not much action, suspense or thrilling moments. The novel is based on Regency-era London among the social classes. The plot of the story is not unique: high-class debutantes, dances, match-making, a Bachelor Duke in search of a wife, and a poor beautiful single woman in need of money to save her family's farm.
I enjoyed this novel and would recommend to anyone who likes fictional historical romance. The book is 373 pages, which is a good length novel.
I received a copy of this book from Bethany House in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
