"Mending Fences"
The Deacon's Family series (book 1)
By Suzanne Woods Fisher
I have to start off by saying that I'm not a fan of Amish novels. But I've read several books by Suzanne Woods and have loved them all, I said, "why not?" I'm glad that I decided to give this novel a try. This is the first book in The Deacon's Family series but most of the characters were introduced in previous book series. The story follows the continuation of Luke Schrock's alcoholism recovery. He has returned to Stoney Ridge where we witness him heal and recover, and mend his relationships with the community.
This is a unique story, especially for an Amish novel but that's what I like about it, it portrays real life and the struggles of many others. Luke seeks and finds redemption and forgiveness. A story like this one will always hit home for somebody. I love how Suzanne always includes the message of God's love and grace in her stories and this one was no exception.
I received a copy of this novel from Revell in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
