Anyone But Me

"Anyone But Me: 10 Ways to Overcome Your Fear and Be Prepared to Share the Gospel" by Ray Comfort Excellent Ray Comfort book as always! This is the second book I read from Ray but I follow his ministry, Living Waters on YouTube. In "Anyone But Me' Ray makes the appeal to Christians to go out and make disciples. The subtitle appealed to me because I have social anxiety, and going up to people and talking to them requires a lot of courage for me. But Ray lists 10 ways that we can overcome our fear and/or discomfort to share the Gospel with others. He says that every Christ-follower should have the desire to share the Good News with others.  The chapters cover 10 aspects of sharing the Gospel: loving, obedient, decisive, defiant, focused, prepared, truthful, practiced, faithful, and prayerful. The stories he uses with personal experiences make his narrative relatable and personal making it super easy to relate to.  I love Ray's writing style, it is easy to understan...

The Attributes of God (Vol 2)

"The Attributes of God (Vol 2): Deeper Into the Father's Heart" by A.W. Tozer 4.5  stars. Another great Tozer classic. This is the second part of his first Attributes of God two-part book treatment on the subject. Tozer discusses God's self-existence, transcendence, eternalness, omnipotence, immutability, omniscience, wisdom, sovereignty, faithfulness, and love. This is a great place to start with theology. Tozer's simple, yet unique style is easy to understand. You can understand him perfectly without getting lost or confused. I'm taking away half a star for repetition. Even though Tozer does tend to be repetitive, and it doesn't bother me, this book seems to have it more than usual. It can be a little annoying to some readers. If you like the first book, you'll certainly enjoy this one as well. I would recommend to all, especially new believers. I received a copy of this book from Moody in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed here ar...

The Pursuit of God

"The Pursuit of God" by A.W. Tozer Edited by James L. Snyder Gorgeous edition of one of my all-time favorite books! I've read The Pursuit of God several times now and am always recommending it to others. This is one of those books every Christian needs to read before they die. It's a classic for a reason.  In this popular Christian classic, Tozer discusses the role of the Holy Spirit in the Christian life and exhorts the reader to seek more of God's presence. He talks about the importance of the Holy Spirit in our lives, how God pursuits us individually, His desire to have a personal relationship with you. He also discusses how a Christian who is filled with the Holy Spirit lives and his/her hunger for Heavenly things more than anything else.  The first time I read this book back in 2012, I was blown away. I was going through a rough patch, I can say this book convicted me to seek after God whole-heartedly and with abandon. It awakened a hunger in me to get back u...

Victory Over The Darkness

"Victory Over The Darkness: Realize the Power of Your Identity in Christ" by Neil T. Anderson Excellent book! I thoroughly enjoyed this read because I could identify with many areas discussed here. In this popular classic, Neil Anderson touches upon several reasons/ways we allow chains/strongholds in our lives. He discusses how we can break free from those holds and where we can find that freedom (ultimately in Jesus Christ of course). As the subtitle suggests, learning and realizing who we are Christ is the solution to many of our self-identity issues.  Do you feel inadequate? Do you find yourself constantly comparing to others or seeking validation in others or things? Are just some areas discussed in this book. All these struggles are very relevant today as they have always been in fact. Now, normally, I would not read this type of book mostly because they tend to be cheesy, lame, and appealing to the feelings and emotions too much. I usually steer clear away from books th...

The Counselor

"The Counselor" by A.W. Tozer Yet another convicting and quotable Tozer book! Tozer is one of my favorite Christian writers so I've read my fair share of his books. This one is definitely one of his best. This one talks about the Holy Spirit and His role in our lives. Tozer discusses why Christianity today lacks the presence of the Holy Spirit and what we need to do about it. He explains what it means to know the Holy Spirit and the relationship we need with Him.  Tozer rebukes Christians who want to be full but not filled. He also addresses how many people confuse excitement/ enthusiasm with the Holy Spirit.  In trueTozer fashion, he convicts, exhorts, and rebukes in a way that leaves you desperate to get right with God. Even if you've had these convictions before, it's good to get a shake once a while. Tozer will keep you on your toes and challenge you to a genuine Christian life, you will not want to revert to mediocrity.  This is a book I will definitely re-re...
