"What If Jesus Was Serious About Prayer?
A Visual Guide to the Spiritual Practice
Most of Us Get Wrong
by Skye Jethani
I see many 5 star reviews for this book and the previous book in the series by Jethani and I can understand why. It is simple, engaging, fun but at the same time chock-full of Biblical wisdom. This little book can especially be helpful for new believers and teens. The pictures are entertaining and light-hearted while conveying powerful truths about prayer. I found the bits of wisdom to be convicting and true. All in all, it is a great book that makes for a great gift.
However, I was disappointed with how short each section is. It contains 53 points on prayer divided up into 6 parts. But each point is only about 1.5 pages so only a few lines long. Many of the points he makes are very good and crucial that I personally believe need a lot more page space, I'd say even whole books can be written about just that one point. I know that this book is aimed at simplifying prayer however, many of these themes can be expounded more and would benefit the reader greatly, especially those new to the faith. On the flip side, this could make a great book to use for Bible study discussions, to get the ball rolling.
